I hope you can help me with some advice. I live in Nth Queensland, about a hour out of Townsville. I am creating a new garden bed on ground which is presently a thick growing lawn. My idea was to have a excavator dig up the the lawn and heap it back on the beds, lay newspaper on top and mulch, leaving for 6 weeks before planting. I'm not sure if using the lawn is a good idea. I'm happy to weed, the plants I will be planting will be in 6 inch pots. I have checked the pH and it is a bit acidic, the texture is sandy in places. The plants I have selected are Australian natives and plams. Pam, Townsville Qld.
