Hi,
I have a flax plant that has very floppy leaves and small white/silver bugs on the underside of the leaves, would you know what I can do with this plant. Thanks Nicholas
Answer:
Hi Nicholas,
Sounds like your flax could be being attacked by Mealy bug or Scale Insects. They are a major pest on flax plants. Normally it occurs if the flax has been weakened for some reason, be it lack or water or too much shade or damage to the roots. You can treat the problem by using some White Oil. You may have to spray it on a few times to get an effect. There is a very good product called Pest Oil which I suggest you use. Also have a look at why the plant is struggling, the fact that the leaves are floppy is not a good sign, it sounds to me like it may be getting too much shade and not enough sun.
