When and how to fertilize Canna lily plants

  Generally speaking Canna lily plants require fertilizing only once or twice a year.   Spring and summer are the best times to fertilize.   Fertilizer rates can vary greatly,  with the use of around 50grams per m2 being a good dose.   A general purpose garden fertilizer is sufficient to fertilize Canna lily plants.   Best to use a low nitrogen fertilizer,  high nitrogen fertilizers tend to produce lush growth, but reduce the production of flowers.
