The best time to fertilise rose plants is when they are actively growing. This means in spring and summer. Because roses produce a lot of flowers fertilising is important to maintain good growth. If you rose is lacking in vigour it probably requires a good fertilise. Do not fertilise in winter, but a dose of around 50 grams around the root zone in spring and summer should be enough to maintain good growth and flowering. It is best to use a specialist rose food which you can purchase from most nurseries.
