Alternathera tricolour

Colourful, low maintenance groundcover that spreads about 1m. Grows to a height about 30cm. Looks good in mass plantings. Can be pruned flat or can be turned into low hedges.  Plants can grow quickly under good conditions so if used as hedging or boarder will need regular pruning.  Not suited to cold climates as is effected by frosts. Can be reasonably hardy in sun or semi shade. Moderate watering required. NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, WA. Generally a low maintenance plant.

Alternathera "Exibition Gold"

Low growing groundcover around 15cm with 1m spread. Does not require much pruning compared to tri-colour variety. Low maitenance. Good foliage colour throughout the year for mass plantings, can be used to replace annuals were a low maintenance, colourful plant is required. Or can be used as a low hedge or boarder plant.  Moderate water use. Not suited to areas with heavy frost. NSW, QLD, WA, SA, NT.

Shore Juniper - Juniper conferta

A very hardy ground cover which will spread around 2m and grow to a height of 15 to 30cm. Can be pruned flat if required. Grows in full sun to shade. Long lived, no major pests, low maintenance.  Major draw back are the sharp leaves, but mostly used in areas where people would not have contact with it.  Good for mass planting on banks, in raised beds and as a type of lawn replacement (but not to walk on).  Can withstand harsh coastal conditions.  Good also for areas with heavy frosts or cold winters.  NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA, TAS.

Ivy - Hedra

Ivy is commonly used as a quick cover on walls and fences, but, it can also grow as a Groundcover. Due to it's hardy nature, it can take full sun to heavy shade and grows in all soil types. Does best in well drained organically rich soil. Great for mass planting under large trees or in raised beds. Ivy has the advantage of also being very waterwise. Once it is established it will require regular pruning, due to it's vigorous growth. NSW, QLD,WA,VIC,WA,SA,TAS,NT.
