Cordyline Australis - Red Sensation

Coryline "Red Sensation"  is a colourful form of Cordyline which will grow in semi- shade or sun.    "Red Star" is a similar looking plant with slighly finer leaves.   "Red Star" seams to keep it's colour more in full sun.    "Sundancer" is an excellent new variety.    Corylines make great potted plants, but require well drained soil and regular moisture to look their best.    Cordylines can withstand dry periods, However the plants suffers as a result, Eg leaf splitting etc.  and will take some time to recover.   

Yucca Elephantipes - Spineless Yucca

Yucca elephantipes is the quintessential architectural plant.  The leaves are hard and  spear like (without spines)  and point upward.   Yukka elephantipes suit modern homes with contemporary low water use gardens.   Yucca elephantipes will grow to around 3m.   In their native state (Mexico) some varieties grow to 10m.    Yukka elephanties makes a great feature plant.  It also makes a great potted plant as it requires very little water and can withstand extremely hot conditions.    Yucca elephantipes would have to be one of the ultimate low maintenance, low water use garden plants.   

Dracaena Marginata -

Dracaena Marginata is a slender plant that can grow to a height of 3 to 4m.   Dracaena Marginata has light green, glossy leaves with a red stripe up the edges of the leaves.   The leaves are long and thin, around 40cm and in it's mature form, the leaves will be carried at the vary top of the plant.    A single truck with multiple stems is the best form and will develop into a small tree shape.    Dracaena Marginata is a hardy plant and is drought tolerant once established.    Great for a feature plant in the garden or as a potted patio plant.   They also can grow in full sun or heavy shade (once grown for the conditions).   A great plant for a contemporary low water use garden.    Not suitable for areas with frosts.
