Evergreen Ash Tree- Fraxinus griffithii

A small tree of 4-6m. Most times around 5m. Thick, lush foliage. Evergreen. Develops white sprays of flowers in summer. Low maintenance. Not suitable for areas with heavy frosts. This tree can be shaped or pruned anytime of year. Makes a good tall screen plant. Does best in well drained, organic soil. Can be quite hardy and waterwise once established.  Water well during drought conditions.  NSW, SA, WA, VIC, QLD, NT.

Olive trees - Olea Europea

Olive trees grow to a height of between 5-7m,with a broad canopy and a short trunk. The foliage is a gray/green colour.  They are Evergreen and have dense foliage.  Olives can be easily trained into various shapes from Espalier to large Standard shapes.  They can also be used as tall hedges.  They are used in Contemporary style gardens for their unusual foliage colour and low maintenance nature.  They are very waterwise once established and can live for hundreds of years. They can grow in many soil types, from sand ,to heavy soils. Good drainage is important.  They can be damaged by heavy frosts, but regenerate quickly.  All olives will produce some fruit, however there are varieties which produce less and smaller fruit.  NSW,QLD,VIC,SA,WA, SA.

Magnolia "Little Gem"

Magnolia trees are a group of plants that originate from the southern USA. There are many varieties, most common in Australia is Grandiflora, but new varieties are becoming available all the time. One of the most recent is a dwarf variety called "Little Gem" which generally will only grow to 4m. It is used in contemporary and cottage gardens for it's neat, compact form and evergreen foliage.(can be semi deciduous in some cooler areas)  The flowers are large and white and have a jasmine type fragrance.   Magnolia's require an organically rich soil with good drainage. They are also long lived and can make a good tall hedge or screen plant.  When grown in the right climate and soil, they are an excellent plant for the home garden. NSW,QLD,NT,VIC,SA.WA

Cordyline Australis -

Cordyline Australis is a plant with green strap like leaves, that will grow to a height of around 3 mtrs.    Generally Cordylines grow as a single plant, but also look great in groups.   In the contemporary gardens Cordylines make a great background plant or feature plant.   If grouped together along a fence, they create an effective screen plant.   Once mature Cordylines will lose leaves from the trunk, leaving a bunch of leaves at the top.    Moderate watering is required for Cordylines to look their best.   Cordylines can withstand strong winds and salty conditions, so they make a great coastal garden plant.   These are a popular modern plant and there are many new varieties available such as Red Sensation, Sundancer, Red Star.
