Solanums naturally grow to around 2m. When shaped into a Standard they are generally kept to between 1.2 and 2m tall. They flower freely throughout the year with blue flowers. There is a darker variety called "Royal Robe" which is very attactive. Solanums grow vigoruously and regular pruing is required to keep a the foliage compact. Major pests are catapillars and a soil organism called a nematode, but they are easily controlled. Solanums will grow in most soils, but good drainage is important. Moderate watering required in dry time, but generally quite hardy. NSW,QLD,VIC,SA,WA,TAS.
