Azaleas are plants that can suit a tropical style garden as they have that lush look and fantastic flowering. There are hundreds of flower colours available. They can be grown in full sun to partial shade. Shrubs vary in growth from 40cm up to 2m depending on variety and conditions. Azaleas look great in mass plantings. They can generally grow under trees where other shrubs will not. Frost tender. Soil type must be on the acid side around 4.5 to 5.5 to do best. Organically rich, well drained soil is best.
