Cercis siliquastrum - Judas Tree

The Judas tree is an small flowering tree to around 5m.   It is deciduous and very hardy once established.    The Judas tree grows naturally around southern europe and into asia.  It has been a popular tree in the past as a reliable, drought tolerant tree for a broad range of climatic zones from cool temperate to mediterranean.    Soft pink flowers are produced in early spring.   Judas trees will grow in well drained soils, it is a good tree to grow in limestone areas where other trees will not grow.   It has a long life and will need little care once established.    Grow in a full sun position.     Great for larger cottage and country gardens.
