Primulas are a soft foliage annual which grows to a height of around 25cm. They have an old world charm, which make you think of an English cottage garden. Generally they are mass planted for their subtle flower colours, soft hues of mauve, pink, white, purple and even reds. They make a great boarder plant along a path and also as a potted colour plant. Unlike many other annuals, they interact well with roses and can be planted around the base of standard roses in mass plantings. Full sun is best, in a fertile soil. Flowering occurs through the warmer parts of the year in cool temperate areas. In temperate and warm temperate areas, they can be grow in winter, given a sunny, frost free position. Primulas require regular watering.
