This is a small tree/shrub with a height of 4m and a widith of 3m. In sub-tropical climates the tree will be semi-deciduous and in temperate climates it may be come totally deciduous in winter. The wonderful red colouring of this plant comes not from flowers, but from the red leaves (bracts) which cover the plant in spring to autumn. The plant often turns totally red in the autumn. Once established it is a moderately hardy plant and does not need much care. Grow in full sun, in a well drained organic soil.
