A deciduous small tree. Height 4m, Width 4m. Orginally from Mexico this tree is now extensively grown around the world in sub-tropical, temperate and mediterranean climates. (mild winters, hot summers). The flowers of the orginal variety are white with a yellow centre. There are many other colours also available, pink, apricot and shades of red. The franipani grows best in full sun in well drained soil. Only moderate watering is required as Franipanis are drought tolerant. Although Plumeria are deciduous in winter they are not suited to areas with freezing cold winters as the plants will freeze and die. When this occurs stems tend to go soft and soggy. When grown in a mild climate Frangipani plants produce beautiful flowers in the summer and have a lovely jasmine like perfume.
